A Friday of Hopes and Challenges

I just re read yesterday's post.

"I'm sorry!"
"Forgive me."

There were far too many typos. I should have called it  Brain Dead Thursday. Note to self: Quadruple check future posts, e-mails, parent portal notes, moodle site notes, and facebook comments before sending or posting! That was embarrassing. Did I say texts and BM's>>>oops, BBM's? I meant to! Let's see are there any other modes of communication that I left out? There are far too many to check every day, but we (meaning you me and the rest of the universe) do it. Work e-mail accounts and personal accounts...all must be checked. Don't forget about your school district's web site or any pages that your children's teachers may have. Those too must be part of the digital routine or you won't have a clue as to what is happening with the k-12 "set."

No wonder why so many people have carpel tunnel syndrome and eye problems.

We are on our way to becoming a society of thick glasses and wrist gear.

This weekend enjoy nature.

NATURE.

DO YOU REMEMBER HER?

MOTHER NATURE

Challenge yourself. Is it possible to remain gadget free for a full Saturday? Hmmmm. Try it. Comment me back the results. (It is possible.)    photogragh by Addison, age 9

Won't it be interesting to see how we all spend our days? Do you think that you can pry yourself
away from technology? Your kids will think that there's something wrong with you for sure. Isn't that cell glued to your head??

This means that you may hear every word that your loved ones say with out distraction. -----WAIT.
-----That's a good thing!! Isn't it?
You might go for a looooooong walk.
You might even go for a family bike ride.
You just might do both!!!
Whether you already do these things or not... Pay attention to the little things.
Is the grocery store always this crowded?
Is it better to sing your own songs in the car than it is to pop in a DVD that quiets the kids?
What color are the leaves today?
Get  CRAFTY. Why buy generic Valentine's when you can save a few $$ and make cards with your kids? Look at the satisfaction on your child's face when they are completed and way better than the ones in the store!
Watch the crazy squirrel that has found a favorite spot in your yard after chewing on the pizza slice that he pulled out of your garbage.
Listen to the sound of the wind as blows through the trees.
Better yet feel it blow through your hair.
Sit on your porch, or yard, or garden or local park and enjoy a brisk winter day with your loved ones. Watch your children play.

Better yet...play with them! I mean REALLY PLAY!! Run and jump and slide and twirl. Forget the confines that we normally deal with. Forget the technological era in that we live, as wonderful as it can be.

The world was here long before you and it will go on long after you are gone. Take in it's wonder. Enjoy your surroundings through the eyes of a child even if only for a moment. Take on the challenge.

“Everything we see hides another thing, we always want to see what is hidden by what we see. There is an interest in that which is hidden and which the visible does not show us. This interest can take the form of a quite intense feeling, a sort of conflict, one might say, between the visible that is hidden and the visible that is present.”

Have fun this weekend. Live it up!!
